From there, players can complete a series of quests and customize Vault 88 to their liking. Once inside Vault 88, the Sole Survivor will meet its overseer-turned-ghoul Valery Barstow who enlists their help constructing the half-finished vault.
Reaching level 20 is recommended, however, as players will come up against some formidable enemies in the process of accessing and building Vault 88 and a higher level means the Sole Survivor stands a better chance of defeating them. There are two ways to trigger the Vault-Tec Workshop – either by travelling to Quincy Quarries or by reaching level 20, which sets off a distress signal leading the Sole Survivor to Vault 88.
